Who We Are

Established in 1983, the Greater Kansas City Writing Project (GKCWP) is one of nearly 200 university-based National Writing Project sites. We are a Pre-K - College community of educators and lifelong learners working in conjunction with the University of Central Missouri. The mission of the Greater Kansas City Writing Project at UCM is to improve student achievement by improving the teaching of writing and improving learning in the nation’s schools. We believe that access to high-quality educational experiences is a basic right of all learners and a cornerstone of equity. We work in partnership with institutions, organizations, and our community to develop and sustain leadership for educational improvement.
